Gold Beach to Florence, August 1

We follow a winding pathway through the rain forest at Prehistoric Park to view a collection of life sized pre-historic creatures set among ferns and moss covered trees. These guys are (were) gigantic! The forest backdrop makes it all seem realistic. We are the only ones here, so we go around twice. Sean takes photos for a movie production he's planning in his head. Anna signs the guest book. Where from? France!

We are camping tonight at Honeyman State Park in the Oregon Dunes Recreational Area. There's a playground near our site. Hooray! Bars, swings, and tetherball. Great fun while Nana fixes lunch. And then, a hike to the dunes. We start small and then discover the biggest dune of all and we have to conquer it. Walking up a sand dune is challenging. Step up, sink in, slide back. Huff and puff, (Nana). But, we make it to the top and we can see the sea :) in one direction and sand, sand, sand all around us. A distinctive and imposing beauty. And what fun. Sliding, rolling, jumping, and climbing the dune again and again.
